Guidelines For Nursery School Admission This Year

Nursery admissions in Delhi to begin on November 29

Guidelines for this year’s admission to open seats in private schools remain the same as last year. Last year, a new upper age limit was introduced — three, four and five years respectively as of March 31, 2020 — and that continues to be applicable this year.

The application process for entry-level seats in the capital’s private schools will begin on November 29, over two weeks earlier than it had begun last year. Director of Education Binay Bhushan said this has been done to ensure EWS/DG students and children with special needs (CWSN) can start school on time with other students.

The schedule for admissions to Nursery, KG and Class I — whichever might be the entry-level class in a particular school — was released by the Directorate of Education (DoE) Wednesday. While it began on December 15 last year, it had begun on December 27 in 2018-2019.

While the last date for submitting forms is December 27, the first list of selected candidates shall be published by respective schools on January 24.

All schools are required to reserve 22% seats in entry-level classes for EWS/DG students and 3% for CWSN. Admission to these are conducted through a centralised draw of lots. A separate schedule for this will be released by the DoE later.
